MATH 347 - Fourier Analysis And Applications CR: 3 Prerequisites: MATH 124 and MATH 328. This course would serve as an introduction to Fourier Analysis, and many topics within: convolution products, orthonormal collections of functions, and the Fourier Transform. In particular it would cover the many important applications of Fourier Analysis used in solutions to Partial Differential Equations and Sturm-Liouville Second Order Differential Equations, as well as the beginnings of signal analysis and mollifiers and distributions in general study of PDE. The goal of the course would be to enforce students understanding of how general solutions to PDE are given as weighted series or integrals of eigen functions. Spring semesters.
