ENGR 325 - Semiconductor Physics and Devices CR: 3.0 Prerequisites: ENGR 215 and ENGR 221 This course covers the fundamental physical principles that govern semiconductor device operation. It covers a wide range of topics, including the formation of electron energy bands within semiconductors and their resulting properties, the equilibrium statistics of electrons and holes, electron drift and diffusion currents, and generation and recombination mechanisms. This course also covers specific semiconductor devices such as p-n junction diodes, metal-oxide field effect transistors (MOSFETs), and bipolar junction transistors (BJTs). This course provides a thorough introduction to the major categories of semiconductor devices used in modern microelectronics.
