ENVR 307 - Vineyards

Prerequisite: Any 200-level or above course in ENVR, BIOL, CHEM or AGRI, or ECON 205 and instructor permission The nearly 18 acres of vineyards on the Sweet Briar College campus provide a starting point and backdrop for the study of vineyard environments and management. Students will explore such issues as grapevine phenology, varieties, diseases, pests, climate change impacts on vineyards, and management for production goals. Students will engage in hands-on activities, and hence will “get dirty” and encounter insects while working in various weather conditions. There will be field trips to off-campus vineyards and production facilities.
