SART 443 - Clay: Alternative Firing III

Prerequisite: SART 343 Students will begin to refine previously learned skills in this course. Students will move on to more complex forms and techniques as they continue to develop their ability to manipulate material and refine surfaces with alternative firing techniques. Students will have one additional project on top of regular coursework that will be developed in consultation with the instructor based on the student’s individual interests. This course will also challenge the student’s aesthetic awareness through information regarding both historical and contemporary ceramic. Regular slide lectures, handouts, and museum research will give visual reference in areas of personal ceramics interest. This course has a fee.
